Abstract

This contribution presents a practical use case demonstrating how Building Information Modelling (BIM) can be combined with Structural Health Monitoring (SHM) to support bridge management during the operation phase. A Python-based algorithm processes laser sensor data to automatically detect vehicle crossings and derive additional information such as direction and speed. This data is documented in BIM and used for event visualization. The approach illustrates the potential of integrating BIM and SHM for digitalizing routine tasks and extending existing methods, such as construction process simulation, into the operation and maintenance phases.
